About this course

Course Description

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies. The unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

Who Should Apply

This course is targeted at students who are seeking to develop or refresh their skills and knowledge in providing a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings and to further their career prospects or study pathways.

The unit HLTAID011 Provide first aid is included in many qualifications within Training Packages. Therefore, a statement of attainment for these units can be used as credit for a range of qualifications.

Entry Requirements

Iris Trained has the following entry requirements:

You must:

  • be at least 18 years of age
  • participate in a course entry interview to determine suitability for the course and student needs. The course entry interview will also assess whether students can use digital technologies. Note that the course entry interview process will determine whether you will complete the course in full or as a refresher course
  • have sufficient language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skill sufficient to complete the course, for example, to read materials relevant to the course, participate in discussions and roleplays and apply numerical concepts such as time management. This will be tested through a LLN assessment as part of the course entry process. You will need to achieve ACSF level 2 for reading, writing, numeracy, and oral communication to enter the course.
